“The association pays the executive director's husband an hourly wage to help with time consuming menial tasks during busy times of the year.”

“The house of delegates is the governing body of the association & is made up of the following voting members: 18 ppl on the executive board, app. 50 local chapter delegates (depends on the actual number of members in the chapter) and 16 past presidents (not currently a member of the executive board).”

“All sna-nc members can vote for sna-nc officers each year for the executive board-which is the executive body of the association. Each year, there is an election for the sna-nc vice president. In the odd years, the secretary and district directors from districts 1,3,5,7 are also elected. In the even years, the treasurer and district directors from districts 2,4,6,8 are elected. All of these officers are voting members of the executive board and the house of delegates”

“Each member of the governing body receives a copy of the 990 to review via secured e-mail before filed.”

“All candidates are given a copy of the conflict of interest policy to sign when they express interest in running for an office in sna-nc. All board members are given a copy at the first board meeting to sign after it is gone over in the orientation each year. It is also included in the sna-nc policies booklet that each board member receives.”

“The executive director and president discuss contract and salary each year. The president presents the executive director's contract to the executive committee for discussion and then to the entire executive board for further discussion and approval by voting. The president-elect chaired an ad hoc committee in 2010 that looked at salaries and benefits to other executive directors and presented their findings and recommendations to the board. The contract, based on those findings and recommendations and a $1000 increase in salary were voted on and approved by the executive board.”

“Copies of forms 1023 and 990 are available for public inspection upon request to the association.”
