Client Note 1

Client Note 1 - This small not for profit school organization (Parent Teacher Association) is requesting that the internal revenue service abate any assessment for late filing of the organizations 2015 form 990EZ. The organization is made up of parents who volunteer their time while their children are attending the Esperanza ELementary School. Therefore, there is constant change over of parent volunteers and board members. In addition, the fiscal year end of the organization corresponds with the end of the school year which is also the time that a portion of the children are transitioning from the elementary school to a new intermediate or middle school. during this time frame a portion of the parent volunteers are leaving and moving to the next school site which makes the continuity of the board change over difficult. There appears to have been either a misunderstanding or miscommunication as to the status of the financial reports and the filing of the 2015 tax form with the internal revenue service. The organization and it's volunteers maintain up to date books and records and has always filed their tax returns in a timely manner. However, there was an oversight this tax year that the filing was overlooked. Once it was noticed that the 2015 tax return was not filed, the new officers promptly requested the preparation of the tax return so that it may be submitted.The board asks that the IRS please waive any penalty assessment for the late filing penalties as it would put an undue hardship on the finances of this organization and the programs that it is trying to establish and maintain for the children at their California Public School.The organization has establish new protocols to make sure that the future filings are submitted in a timely manner.

Once it was noticed that the 2015 tax return was not filed, the new officers promptly requested the preparation of the tax return so that it may be submitted.The board asks that the IRS please waive any penalty assessment for the late filing penalties as it would put an undue hardship on the finances of this organization and the programs that it is trying to establish and maintain for the children at their California Public School.The organization has establish new protocols to make sure that the future filings are submitted in a timely manner.
