| North Carolina For The People Action has played a central role in strengthening democratic institutions by coordinating communication and advocacy strategies across the state. We developed press strategies that drew attention to efforts undermining checks and balances, voting rights, and other core democratic safeguards. Through our coalition, we have brought together organizations and leaders to respond to threats against judicial independence, the right to peaceful assembly, fair elections, and campaign finance transparency. Specifically, we worked with our coalition partners on 1 constitutional amendment bill, 26 voting rights bills, 2 protect dissent bills, 4 structural democracy bills, 5 money in politics and good government bills, 3 tech and democracy bills, and 7 judicial integrity bills. Our communication to the public was through emails, Facebook posts, X posts, opinion articles in traditional media, and information disseminated to traditional news media. We invested in researching the more effective pro-democracy messaging and significantly upgraded our organizational communications. This included launching a new website, expanding to new social media platforms, and creating tailored messaging guides to better support and align our partners. Our approach combined advocacy to mitigate challenges with strategic communications efforts that informed the public and elevated democratic values. Even when challenges could not fully be stopped, we worked to ensure they were understood in the broader context of protecting democratic governance, helping to build long-term narrative change that supports a more resilient democracy. | $0 | $29,961 |
