“Part III, Primary Exempt Purpose:Peoples Alliance educates and engages community members to effect positive change onimportant social and economic justice issues, particularly in the following areas: civilrights, economic inequality, education, environment, and housing.2022 Peoples Alliance Accomplishments1. Prepared separate letters for both the Board of County Commissioners and the City Council that provided detailed budget recommendations for their respective FY 2022-23 budgets, based on input from PAs action teams and members. 2. Completed strategic planning and member listing.3. Revised and approved new mission, vision, values for overall organization. 4. Education Action team actively engaged the community around key issues affecting public schools. In partnership with the Durham Associatin of Educators campaigned for increased salaries of all non-certified staff within the Durham Public Schools.5. PA volunteers attended Eviction Court to offer resources and guidance to people beginning or in the midst of the eviction process.6. Held three community educational forums. 7. Developed and successfully implemented a campaign to encourage voters in Durham to pass a bond referendum.8. Started an alliance with a Statedwide Public School advocacy effort called H.E.A.L. Together.9. Restarted regular communications to members and held an in-person membership meeting.”
