“During the year Wilson Interfaith launched a new health initiative called Eat Healthy Move More. Thirty families were selected from our current client base to enroll and signed a participation covenant committing to weekly engagement. The program was delivered in partnership with Barton College Wilson Community College Health Sciences and the County Extension Agency. Families participated in alternating weekly nutrition classes healthy cooking courses recipe development and guided exercise opportunities. Each household received a pedometer at enrollment and a 20 lb box of fresh produce each week along with encouragement to prepare meals using the healthy recipes taught in class. Participants tracked weight steps and BMI weekly to support progress toward healthier eating increased physical activity and improved overall wellness. Additionally Wilson Interfaith developed partnerships with three local farmers to supply the fresh produce used in the program. These relationships strengthened the quality of the food provided and supported the long-term sustainability of the initiative.”

Wilson Interfaith holds a $581,515 promissory note dated July 31 2009 issued by NCHFA for the construction of our 20-bed mens shelter. The loan carries a 30-year term through 2039 bears no interest and requires no payments as long as the property continues to operate as a homeless shelter. Under NCHFAs structure this loan exists to ensure continued maintenance of the building and property with deed restrictions in place for five years beyond the original 7 31 2039 term. The SH-Rehab loan is forgiven at a rate of 20% per year and will be fully forgiven in 2044.”
