Hospitality House of Northwest NC - 338 Brook Hollow Road Boone NC 28607 - Hospitality House enables the transition from crisis to stability from poverty to sustainability and from homelessness to housing. The Hospitality House mission is to rebuild lives and strengthen community by providing a safe nurturing healthy environment in which individuals and families experiencing homelessness and poverty-related crises are equipped to become self-sufficient and productive. In addition to donating funds to support their mission Rotary volunteers donate their time at Hospitality House. Hurricane Helene amplified the need for community services. We donated $20,267 to Hospitality House this year: $3,644 to Hospitality House of Northwest NC to support their Hurricane Helene operational needs and $17,267 to replace a shed and awning destroyed during the hurricane.$20,267$0
Valle Crucis Community Park - 2892 Broadstone Rd. Banner Elk NC 28604 Established in 1983 the Valle Crucis Community Park is a 28-acre park established to provide a safe and peaceful recreation resource and gathering space preserve open space and educate visitors about natural resources and the importance of protecting them for future generations. In additional to donations of support Rotary members donate their time and energy to the park. Hurricane Helene devastated the park requiring extensive and expensive restoration and improvements. We donated $14,000 to the park this year: $10,000 for an Equipment Trailer to replace Equipment Shed destroyed by Hurricane Helene and $4,000 for Rebuilding Park after Hurricane Helene.$14,000$0
Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture - 126 Poplar Grove Connector Boone NC 28607 Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture helps build an equitable sustainable High Country local food system by supporting producers and cultivating community connections that educate inspire and increase the demand for local food. In the wake of Hurricane Helene Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture supported local farmers in the form of grants. We donated $14,000 this year: $10,000 Grants to Farmers after Hurricane Helene $4,000 Grant to secure resources and services for High Country farmers as winter arrives after Hurricane Helene.$14,000$0
