FORM 990, PART XI, LINE 9:

Gain/loss on perpetual trust -154,205.

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The process has not changed from the prior year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

The school has adopted investment and spending policies for endowment assets, approved the board of trustees, that attempt to maintain the purchasing power of endowment assets and provide additional real growth through total investment return while ensuring funds are available to achieve educational goals and to meet budgetary needs.

PART X, LINE 2:

The school is incorporated as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the state of north carolina. It has qualified for exemption from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes has been made in the financial statements. In addition, the school qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under section 170(b)(1)(a) and has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under section 509(a)(1). The school's policy is to evaluate all tax positions and to consult with experts to identify those that may be considered uncertain. All identified material tax positions will be assessed and measured by a reasonably possible threshold to determine if the benefit of an uncertain tax position should be recognized in the financial statements. Any changes in the amount of tax position will be recognized in the period the change occurs. The school's federal returns of organziation exempt from income tax (form 990) for 2014, 2013, and 2012 are subject to examination by the irs, generally for three years after they were filed.
