“990 Review of initiativesThrough the Prevention Without Borders grants, nearly 300 youth have participated in the River View High School, Sandy River Middle School and Mt. View Middle School SADD Chapters. Their members worked tirelessly to make a difference in their community, to spread messages of prevention and to create friendship bonds that allow for team building and capacity building skills. Through the two DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Days 500 pounds of unused or out of date prescriptions turned in for proper disposal.Due to COVID-19 SADD students participated in working at schools to prepare school food boxes to be given to families 2400 families were fedThe HOPE Coalition held 5 meetings with an average of 17 people per meeting in attendance and 5 meetings by virtual with an average of 10 people per meeting to review multiple health components. These meetings are held to actually begin to implement programs, initiatives, events, etc. FACES held 10 meetings 4 virtual or conference calling with 275 in attendance to provide opportunity for networking, assessment, and information sharing. FACES provided opportunity for community and individuals to learn about new resources including Renaissance Village for Teachers SADD Chapters, Community Schools, Reconnecting McDowell, Five Loaves and Two Fishes Food Bank, Big Creek People in Action, Parents As Teachers, Commission on Aging, SAFE, Community In Schools, COVID-19, KVC, etc. Through FACES and the HOPE Coalition, 1500 family members have had the opportunity to participate in food prep classes, Family Support groups, and implementing 12 Blessing Boxes filled with nonperishable food items, cleaning supplies, protective faces masks and hand sanitizer products. Coordinator has worked with UniCare to provide two Baby Showers for 21 mothers prenatal and post-natal. Grandparents support groups with an average of 25 attending 10 meetings.Over 80,000 bits of information has been provided to families within the county through Facebook, Twitter, Newsletters, Newspapers, and brochure dissemination. FACES organized and hosted an abuse Call to Action Task Force meeting to address gaps in services to child, teen, adult, and elder abuse victims.FACES staff serves on the board of SAFE and SAFE Housing and Economic Development, Reconnecting McDowell, HOPE Coalition, Community Schools, and participates in Juvenile Drug Court, SYNAR Compliances with State Police, Project Aware and others.”
