“990 Review of initiativesThrough the Prevention Without Borders grants, 250 youth have participated in community events. Reaching over 2000 families Through the two DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Days 200 pounds of unused or out of date prescriptions turned in for proper disposal.SADD students helped install twelve Blessing Boxes throughout McDowell County and have provided food, personal hygiene products and other items to over 3000 families. Two Community Dinners and helped unload numerous tractor trailer of flood relief supplies/The HOPE Coalition held 11 meetings with an average of 25 people per meeting in attendance. These meetings are held to implement programs, initiatives, events, etc. FACES held 11 meetings with 25 in attendance to provide opportunity for networking, assessment, and information sharing. FACES provided opportunity for community and individuals to learn about new resources including Renaissance Village for Teachers SADD Chapters, Reconnecting McDowell, Five Loaves and Two Fishes Food Bank, Mountaineer Food Bank, Raysal Refuge Food Pantry, Big Creek People in Action, Parents As Teachers, Commission on Aging, SAFE,SHED, DHHR, Community In Schools, DoHS,, McDowell County Law Enforcement, WellPoint, Birth to Three, etc. Through FACES and the HOPE Coalition, Family members have had the opportunity to participate in food prep classes, Family Support groups, and implementing 12 Blessing Boxes filled with nonperishable food items and cleaning supplies. Coordinator has worked with WellPoint and BCPIA FSC to provide two Baby Showers for 50 mothers prenatal and post-natal. Grandparents support groups with an average of 25 attending 10 meetings. Four Health Fairs and Resource Fairs have been held serving four hundred familiesOver 50,000 bits of information has been provided to families within the county through Facebook, Instagram, Newsletters, Fliers and brochure dissemination. FACES staff serves as the Board Chair of SAFE and SAFE Housing and Economic Development, Board Member of McDowell County Commission On Aging and a member Reconnecting McDowell, HOPE Coalition, SYNAR Compliances with State Police, Project Aware and others.”
