DescriptionGrantsExpenses
SKCC is a non-audition membership based chorale, learning challenging & diverse musical literature in a broad range of styles, providing an extraordinary educational experience through rehearsals, concerts and cultural exchange; currently ~50 singers, with weekly rehearsal. We cancelled a planned trip (June 2022) to sing in Croatia, now planned for July 2024; SKCC has survived COVID despite a 60% reduction in members, cancellation of concerts, fundraisers, etc., we were able to retain our director with salary. We returned to in-person rehearsal and concerts for the 2021-2022 season and in the current 2022-2023 season we have regained some strength now at 70 plus singers and plan to have a concert at Benaroya Hall in Seattle in June 2024 featuring a combined choir of 180 voices and a 55 piece orchestra. This would not have been possible without a COVID recovery grant of over $40,700.$40,000$50,061
SKCC provides a quality and inspirational musical environment for people of all ages, through public performances for both paying audiences (typically 3 concerts/year); and free events -- SKCC performs at community sponsored events (e.g. tree lighting, july 4), senior centers, schools, veteran's Day; farmer's markets. Concerts were performed December 2022 and March and June in 2023 with low priced admission for students and seniors despite increased costs. We used a grant from WA ARTSFUND to help with concert expenses - venue rent, musicians, etc.$5,400$17,233
Part III Line 30: SKCC supports the community's music students and seniors, providing annual support ($1050) to the Edmonds College Foundation through the SKCC Frank DeMiero Scholarship Fund by sharing fundraising and/or concert proceeds. Not awarded in FY2022 due to lack of suitable candidates; $300 donated to Edmonds Woodway HS music boosters$300$300

ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt0Fiscal year and filing date occurred during a period where both parents were gravely ill, with them living in NY and I in Seattle. Mother passed Feb 1, 2023 and father hospitalized and diagnosed with cancer in late March. I had to attend to both, and while I did my best to support the org remotely, not all records were captured in a way that made filing easy or accurate. Recovering archived bank statements to ensure successful audit took time and resulted in the late filing. This was also a period of recovery from COVID shutdowns, no concerts or fundraisers until this fiscal year. While we are now on better footing, we request an abatement of any penalties or interest to help us retain that improved condition, continue our financial recovery, and meet our mission to create strong community bonds and thereby uplift the spirit
