“To raise funds to provide grants and other types of support for environmental education outreach, conservation and restoration programs in the greater southeastern virginia region. The organization is focusing its efforts on the beautification and greening component of the keep norfolk beautiful mission. It will do this by developing a citizen-based effort to convert vacant lots, unplanted riparian buffers, medians, etc., into urban spaces that offer recreation, beautification, an increased tree canopy, and/or reductions in storm water runoff to residents of norfolk. Fone will collaborate with the norfolk tree commission, the norfolk environmental commission, the block-by-block neighborhood pride program and local citizen-based and non-governmental organizations in developing this progarm and guiding individual projects.”
