“The america's promise alliance board of directors charges the audit & finance committee with reviewing the form 990 prior to filing. The cfo reviews the data that will be included in the 990 before it is submitted to the accounting firm and put into the form 990 for the committee's review. A copy of the form 990 is provided to the committee and a conference call is held to discuss the form 990, including to flag any significant changes from the prior year, before filing the return. After review and approval of the form 990 by the audit & finance committee, the form 990 is share with the full board of directors via the board of directors web portal prior to filing and remains available to them throughout the year.”

Employees must also comply with america's promise's conflict of interest policy, which is included in the employee handbook. Each staff member signs an acknowledgement that they have received the handbook and that they understand and will abide by the provisions (including conflict of interest). In addition, the cfo reviews all contracts, agreements and employees for any potential conflict of interest. If a conflict were identified, the cfo would immediately report it to the ceo, the chair of the audit & finance committee, and the president of the board, who sits on the committee.”
