The organizations mission is to create opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term fair trading relationships. Accordingly the sale of artisan crafts is not an unrelated retail activity but rather the organizations primary exempt function. Revenues from these sales represent program service revenue as they directly further the charitable purpose of supporting and sustaining artisans through fair-trade practices. Payments to artisans for their crafts are reported as program service expenses in Part IX reflecting the organizations ongoing commitment to providing sustainable income opportunities.”
