Form 990, Part III

Operation blessing international is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, humanitarian organization with a mission to demonstrate god's love by alleviating human need and suffering in the united states and around the world. Implementing programs that include disaster relief, medical aid, hunger relief, orphan care, safe water and livelihood/microenterprise, obi made a significant impact in the lives of almost 12 million people and secured gift-in-kind donations totaling $322,197,268 during fiscal year 2017.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4A

Operation blessing was instrumental in feeding hungry people around the world in fy17, including feeding programs for children in countries such as haiti, kenya, rwanda, and uganda. In the aftermath of disasters, teams aided residents with emergency food and relief, debris cleanup and rebuilding efforts. Obi helped desperate families fleeing from isis by providing warm blankets, cooking stoves and mattresses along with essential staples. In fy17, operation blessing equipped individuals with marketable job skills and small business opportunities in countries such as ecuador, pakistan, nepal, honduras, peru, el salvador, cuba, israel, jordan, and the west bank. From training in food production and animal husbandry to beautician skills and sewing centers, obi is providing those in need with the resources and skills to sustain their families and develop stronger communities. During this last fiscal year, operation blessing benefited 317,291 people with sanitation and safe drinking water. Wells were drilled in kenya, ghana, cambodia, india, nigeria, philippines, thailand and zambia in communities lacking safe drinking water. In 12 countries around the world, obi water programs used a combination of techniques to bring safe water to communities such as point of use chlorine generation devices and water filtration. In haiti and liberia ongoing chlorine production is helping disinfect water and prevent the spread of disease. Obi provides care for orphans and vulnerable children, including those who have been rescued from human trafficking, through educational opportunities and programs to combat malnutrition. Obi operates, builds, and renovates schools, provides school scholarships, trains teens in vocational skills, and incorporates feeding programs to provide children with opportunities to succeed. Obi also helps support orphans living with extended family or caregivers. Additionally, obi works to combat child trafficking through prevention programs, intervenes to support rescue missions, and provides restoration for those who are rescued out of slavery with vocational skills training, medical assistance, counseling, and renovating safe homes. In fy17, obi benefitted children in peru, guatemala, el salvador, mexico, honduras, haiti, kenya, liberia, lesotho, ethiopia, uganda, rwanda, nigeria, pakistan, nepal, nicaragua, costa rica, india, cambodia, tanzania, iraq, jordan, israel and cuba.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4B

The hsf's fleet of tractor-trailer trucks transports millions of pounds of food, relief products and disaster relief supplies to a network of more than 90 community-based partners in dozens of cities across the u.s. These partners in turn serve roughly 5,000 local food pantries and hunger relief agencies nationwide. Currently, obi has a 65,000 square foot distribution center in chesapeake, virginia; a 45,000 square-foot distribution center in grand prairie, texas; a 60,000 square-foot storm headquarters distribution center in ocala, florida; and a 23,000 square-foot food distribution center in bristol, virginia, to help reach impoverished families in appalachia. These distribution centers make it possible to strategically ship mixed loads of food and other relief supplies to disadvantaged families and disaster victims across the u.s.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4C

A first responder in times of disaster, operation blessing's domestic disaster relief teams responded to 12 u.s. Disasters in fy17, helping more than 94,000 people in need. Operation blessing's domestic disaster relief teams helped communities in crisis by providing relief to tornado victims in georgia, louisiana and missouri, victims of flooding in texas, louisiana and west virginia, assisting in the aftermath of hurricane matthew in north carolina and virginia; bringing relief to the victims of the wildfires in tennessee and assisting with snow removal in virginia.
