Hospice care focuses on caring, not curing. The premise of hospice is that each of us is entitled to die pain free and with dignity, surrounded by family and loved ones with the support of caring people who understand the process of dying peacefully.

Part IV, Line 31

Termination of operations during the fiscal year ended june 30, 2015, the board of directors of the hospice of the rapidan and the board of directors of the hospice of the piedmont mutually agreed to have the hospice of the piedmont absorb the operations of hospice of the rapidan. The decision was based on the sharing of a common mission and service and the desire to ensure a sustainable nonprofit hospice organization to provide care to terminally ill patients. The assets and service staff of the hospice of the rapidan were transferred to the hospice of the piedmont over the course of the year to ensure an orderly and seamless transition and uninterrupted service to the community. Several board members of the hospice of the rapidian joined the hospice of the piedmont as uncompensated directors. No compensation or other benefits were provided to the boards or management of either organization.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The hospice has reviewed and evaluated the relevant technical merits of each of its tax positions in accordance with guidance established by the fasb and determined that there are no uncertain tax positions that would have a material impact on the financial statements of the hospice. The federal information returns of hospice of the rapidan are generally no longer subject to examination by the irs for years prior to 2010.
