“MEMBER COLLEGE BOARDS”

“Senate body and 5 regional caucus bodies that elect 24 of 27 board members. The senate consists of the total voting members of the association at the start of the senate meeting. Voting strength is determined by the number of students served by each member board. Some boards have one vote; some two; and state boards or very large districts have three votes. The senate elects three at-large board members annually for three-year, staggered terms, controls the bylaws of the association, and is the only body that can move to dissolve the association. The voting membership is divided into five geographic regions, which elect a regional director to the board annually for three-year staggered terms through their regional caucuses. Two board members may be appointed by the chair of the board with the concurrence of the full board, and must be member trustees.”
