THE CORPORATION ACCOUNTS FOR TAX PROVISIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING STANDARDS BOARD (FASB) ACCOUNTING STANDARDS CONCEPT (ASC) TOPIC 740-10, ACCOUNTING FOR UNCERTAINTY IN INCOME TAXES, WHICH CREATES A SINGLE MODEL TO ADDRESS UNCERTAINTY IN TAX POSITIONS AND CLARIFIES THE ACCOUNTING FOR INCOME TAXES BY PRESCRIBING THE MINIMUM RECOGNITION THRESHOLD A TAX POSITION IS REQUIRED TO MEET BEFORE BEING RECOGNIZED IN THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS. UNDER THE REQUIREMENTS OF ASC TOPIC 740-10, TAX EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS COULD BE REQUIRED TO RECORD AN OBLIGATION AS THE RESULT OF A TAX POSITION THEY HAVE HISTORICALLY TAKEN ON VARIOUS TAX EXPOSURE ITEMS. PRIOR TO THIS CONCEPT, THE DETERMINATION OF WHEN TO RECORD A LIABILITY FOR TAX EXPOSURE WAS BASED ON WHETHER A LIABILITY WAS CONSIDERED PROBABLE AND REASONABLY ESTIMABLE.
