Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Neighborhood Policing Program (NPP)Pivot Grant Activities included 125 initial surveys were completed in collaboration with the University of Baltimore to assess community perceptions of police interaction, trust, services, and self-responsibility. The first annual Community Safety Net Program engaged more than 30 city agencies and provided safety information and support across multiple areas, including health, financial literacy, biking, physical well-being, and emotional safety. The program also distributed 30 bikes and helmets to youth and served 86 community members, strengthening the safety net for vulnerable populations. Our Street Resource Fair was organized along a volatile corridor affected by vagrancy, drug use, and sales, serving 116 people in need. The outcomes of this initiative were significant, securing 10 job placements for community members and increasing positive interactions between residents and police, thereby fostering trust and stability in the area.$9,566$9,566
Safety Grant program service included Environmental Goals that aligned the organization to join a collective of 12 community associations and 8 technical associations to advance green capacity building in underserved locations and apply for an EPA grant. To support this effort, expertise was provided through a dedicated team member who helped finalize the overall grant budget. In the first year of the community garden initiative, enough fresh vegetables were harvested to supplement holiday meals for 20 people, marking a significant success in local food sustainability. Additionally, the Taskforce President received national recognition by being selected to present at the American Public Health Association Conference, highlighting the success of community-led initiatives. Our Public Safety Initiatives included the completion of a two-month Crime Prevention program Through Environmental Design (CPTED), which informed local government agencies such as the Department of Public Works and the Department of Transportation about their impact on underserved communities and crime reduction. Neighborhood engagement was also a central focus, with weekly walks conducted to build trust and visibility, three resource fairs organized to connect residents with services, and a remarkable achievement of zero violent crimes in the community during the first year. These efforts positively impacted safety for 30 businesses, 1,200 neighbors, and three schools.$4,976$4,976
Youth & Media Engagement through a partnership with WOLB Radio, our 12-summer youth works students co-hosted the radio show Meet the People. The program addressed critical issues such as youth violence involving guns, the importance of voting, education reform, and mental health. With a listening audience of 11,000 people, the show had a strong impact, and the students were invited back for another broadcast, underscoring the effectiveness of youth-led media engagement in raising awareness and driving dialogue on pressing community challenges.$0$0
