“In 2023, the program service accomplishment for the national birth defects prevention network included the continued refinement of the new organizational structure initiated in 2021 and a resource toolkit for members created in 2022. Other major accomplishments included partnering to support birth defects awareness month, the posting to the nbdpn website the biennial state-specific counts and prevalence of birth defects and a directory of state-based birth defects surveillance programs, development of tools to improve states data quality and usage, listening sessions for members, and increasing its social the networks social media presence. Additionally, the network held an annual membership meeting for its members in august 2023.”

It was created to establish and maintain a national network of state and population-based programs with the intent of improving birth defects surveillance nationally, promoting collaboration on prevention activities, research into the prevention of birth defects and assessment of the effects of prevention and intervention activities.”
