Financial Statement Notes

PART IV, LINE 2B:

The organization holds security deposits as required by state law.

PART X, LINE 2:

Hfa, hfa community housing development, inc., homes for laurel, inc., homes for laurel ii, inc., homes for mcconnellsburg, inc., and homes for shippensburg, inc. (collectively, the "corporations") have applied for and received a determination letter from the internal revenue service ("irs") to be treated as tax-exempt entities pursuant to section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. There was no significant unrelated business income for the years ended march 31, 2025 and 2024. Due to their tax-exempt status, the corporations are not subject to income taxes. The corporations are required to file and do file tax returns with the irs and other taxing authorities. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by the corporations and has concluded that, as of march 31, 2025 and 2024, there are no uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in the financial statements. Accordingly, these financial statements do not reflect a provision for income taxes and the corporations have no other tax positions which must be considered for disclosure. Tax years still open for irs examination for the corporations are the years ended march 31, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

NUTRITIONAL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED IN THE FORM OF ON-SITE FOOD PANTRIES, MONTHLY FOOD DONATIONS, MOBILE GROCERY DELIVERY, AND COMMUNITY MEALS. HOMES FOR AMERICA HAS CONTINUED TO INCREASE ACCESS TO FREE HIGH-SPEED BROADBAND INTERNET FOR RESIDENTS IN 3 ADDITIONAL COMMUNITIES TOTALING 228 UNITS. SAFETY AND SECURITY WERE ENHANCED ACROSS THE PORTFOLIO BY INCREASING AND UPDATING CAMERA SYSTEMS, SECURITY PATROLS, AND ENHANCED PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENTS. PROGRAMMING FOR YOUTH WAS PRIORITIZED WITH AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING, ON AND OFF-SITE SUMMER CAMPS, AND HOMEWORK CLUBS. IN ADDITION, WE ENHANCED PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES TO PROVIDE CASE MANAGEMENT TO TWO COMMUNITIES.
