ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt0Educational Video in Spanish received an approval for the first 990 extension to August 15th, 2015. Our record should reflect that a second extension was filed in a timely fashion, but due to a clerical error, the second extension was mailed without a signature. We were not made aware of this error until September 21, 2015. We promptly worked to file our 2014 form 990 and at the recommendation of the IRS, we chose to file electronically. We believe this clerical error should not penalize the organization which is a very small, under-staffed and under-budgeted, not-for-profit. In the future, all filings, including extensions will be filed electronically, in order to avoid this from happening in the future. We take the responsibility of filing this informational return very seriously and we are embarrassed that this error happened. As it was not an intentional mistake, we hope the IRS will look upon this request for abatement of penalties, favorably.
