| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc | 0 | MEMBERS: USGBC'S ACTIVELY ENGAGED MEMBER COMMUNITY IS AT THE CORE OF USGBC'S MISSION AND DRIVES THE WORK OF USGBC. AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL, USGBC'S MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS SUPPORT USGBC'S MISSION-FOCUSED INITIATIVES. EMPLOYEES OF MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS SERVE ON COMMITTEES THAT DRIVE THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEED, EDUCATION AND EVENTS, ADVOCACY WORK AND OTHER PROGRAMS. MEMBERS VOTE TO FILL LEADERSHIP POSITIONS AND TO APPROVE CHANGES TO THE LEED RATING SYSTEMS.COMMUNITY: USGBC'S COMMUNITY NETWORK CONDUCTS LOCAL OUTREACH THAT PROMOTES THE GREEN BUILDING MOVEMENT IN COMMUNITIES AND REGIONS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. THESE LOCAL LEADERS AND VOLUNTEERS ARE USGBC'S ON-THE-GROUND ADVOCATES, SHARING IDEAS, NETWORKING AND EDUCATING, AND SPREADING INFORMATION AND EDUCATION THROUGHOUT THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES ALSO ADMINISTER AN ACTIVE NETWORK OF EMERGING PROFESSIONALS GROUPS WHO ARE NEW TO THE GREEN BUILDING INDUSTRY AND SUSTAINABILITY MOVEMENT AND WHO ARE PROVIDED WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO HONE THEIR LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS. IN 2015, USGBC DECIDED TO BUILD AN INTEGRATED NETWORK OF THESE LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND PIONEERED A NEW MODEL FOR OUR USGBC CHAPTERS AND LOCAL MARKET. 30 USGBC CHAPTERS INTEGRATED IN 2015 AND 8 IN 2016, TO BECOME USGBC "COMMUNITIES". THESE CHAPTERS USED TO BE PARTNERS WITH USGBC, AND USGBC FORMERLY SUPPORTED THE CHAPTERS WITH REVENUE RELATED TO USGBC GEOGRAPHIC NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP. IN 2015, 30 OF THE CHAPTERS DECIDED TO DISSOLVE AND TRANSFER MOST OF THEIR REMAINING ASSETS TO USGBC. USGBC IS NOW CARRYING OUT THE ACTIVITIES AND OPERATIONS OF THOSE INTEGRATED CHAPTERS TO BETTER SUPPORT THE WORK THEY HAVE DONE TO ADVANCE GREEN BUILDING. |
