“Amia has several classes of membership that may vote in elections and they are categorized by their interaction with the organization (regular, retired, student). Regular members are individuals working in biomedical and health informatics; retired members are those that are no longer working in the field, but who have previously been regular members; student members are either half-time or full-time students in a degree-granting program.”

“The amia board of directors (amia bod) charges the ethics committee to create a special coi panel that oversees amia's conflict management process. The coi panel serves as an intermediary between members, leaders and the amia bod. The coi panel represents the interests of amia members and is charged to: 1. Encourage all leaders to report their conflicts 2. Address members' questions or concerns regarding reported conflicts 3. Address leaders' concerns or questions regarding conflict reporting 4. Review, adjudicate and approve the summarized conflict and resultant management plans prior to publication on the internal amia website. If the coi panel determines that a particular relationship or transaction represents an actual, potential or apparent conflict of interest, it recommends management or resolution of such actual, potential, or apparent conflict, using one of the conflict management defined in the policy. The recommendations of the coi panel then go to the ethics committee for review/approval and then to the amia board of directors for review and approval. Employees of amia are expected to act in their official capacities in furtherance of the best interests of amia. An employee alerts the organization regarding a relationship with third parties which affect his/her independent judgment when acting for or on behalf of amia. Employees are advised in the conduct of the affairs of amia to: 1) avoid situations in which he/she might, directly or indirectly, profit personally; and 2) at all times, use their best efforts to enhance the reputation of amia for honesty, integrity, candor and lack of bias or discrimination.”

“Amia uses a process for determining compensation of the organization's ceo, executive director, or other persons who are the top management officials or key employees that includes all of the following elements: a. Review and approval of by a governing body or compensation committee. B. Use of data as to comparable compensation for similarly qualified persons in functionally comparable positions at similar situated organizations. C. Contemporaneous documentation and recordkeeping with respect to deliberations and decisions regarding the compensation arrangement. D. Salary survey provided by american society of association executives. The last salary review was on december 10, 2021.”
