Activity 2

Retail and operation - strathmore integrates the local artist community into its programs and operations through its gift shop, which features handmade items and work by members of the local craft guilds; its tea room, where local musicians perform weekly; and through its gallery sales program, which features the work of and sales support local visual artists. Operations continue to efficiently support the increasing number of performances, shows, educational classes and events on the 11 acre campus. We annually support nearly 200 shows in the concert hall, concerts for 20,000 montgomery county public school students, and all-campus festivals for thousands of patrons.

Activity 3

Visual arts and education - visual art at strathmore embraces artists in every medium and from every country. This past year we featured exhibitions that explored the art of tattoo, photography by young austrian artists, monochromatic masterpieces in grayscale, and a groundbreaking look at how medicine inspires art featured in a diverse array of media and a unique roster of artists in pulse. Strathmore's education program featured the concert hall debut of the strathmore children's chorus, the second annual ukulele and guitar summit (a week-long workshop), and programs for seniors with the asbury methodist village and at the osher institute of johns hopkins university.
