| Form 990-EZ, Part III, Statement of Program Accomplishmnets. Line 29: In addition to this crucial 2024 election with national races for the U.S. House and Senate, a constitutional amendment adding abortion rights to our state constitution on our ballot gave us the opportunity to plan ahead for grassroots development work we would need for the 2026 Mid-Term Elections. Our work in all areas of our state also focused on GOTV projects for Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris. In the spring we worked in statewide primary campaigns for two open U.S. House seats and numerous open state legislative races. For the latter, we produced a statewide "informational" voters' guide to these races, which we mailed to our members and distributed at primary campaign events. For the fall election and Question #1, our Reproductive Justice Task Force produced literature and buttons which we used statewide during the election campaign, especially on the Eastern Shore, in Baltimore City and Baltimore County, and in Carroll, Cumberland, and St. Mary's Counties in canvassing and GOTV work. In total, we distributed 12,000 palm cards statewide, and we mailed 2,500 voter guides in pre-primary work. We also distributed Maryland NOW promotional materials. | - | $8,787 |
| Form 990-EZ, Part III, Statement of Program Accomplishmnets. Line 30: Maryland NOW's 2024 Annual State Conference. For our first in-person state conference since 2019, and in a critical election year, our state conference-themed "Defending Democracy: Women Leading the Way" was a huge draw, not just for MD NOW members, but activists from our state coalition partners and members in neighboring states (VA, DE, NC) who also attended. Our keynote presentation featured professionals in the political polling field and leaders of other feminist orgnaizations. We had both in-person and virtual attendees and broadcast our workshops and state business meetings - hosting more participants than we had had At state conferences in our 20 years. We are committed to continue to have hybrid events in the forseeable future. | - | $6,060 |
| Form 990-EZ, Part III, Statement of Program Accomplishmnets. Line 28: NYState-ERA Lobbying Project: Sign4ERA A campaign to lobby and influence several moderate Republican Members of Congress in NY State to support the ERA supporters' campaign to sign on and vote to remove ERA time limits. Buses traveled throughout these Members' districts involving thousands of local activists. MDNOW ERA literature, palm cards, posters, and other materials were used and distributed by the volunteers. MD NOW received national recognition for our strong support for this project. Maryland ERA activists traveleed to NYState to join the bus tour. | $0 | $4,120 |

| ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt | 0 | Please see our attached letter. Maryland NOW is not guilty of wilful non-compliance in the late filing of our return. Our letter explains that insufficient information was passed on to us by the firm we had hired that had previously filed our 990-EZ returns, regarding among other things the need to electronically file our return. Our small 501 (C)(4) non-profit is transititioning to take on larger projects and to do more fundraising, and we are incorporating much better accounting procedtures and training of volunteers to avoid problems like this in the future. It is also the case that we are not obligated under IRS rules to file a 990 given our income. We do so to create a public record of our spending and organizaitonal priorities. We respectfully ask that fines and penalties for our filing errors be waived. |
