Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 1:

The coalition of black trade unionists' consolidated financial statements are prepared using the modified cash basis of accounting.

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The coalition of black trade unionists' governing body is responsible for the oversight of its financial statement audit and for the selection of the independent accountant.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Management is required to evaluate tax positions taken by the cbtu and to recognize a tax liability if the cbtu has taken an uncertain position that, more likely than not, would not be sustained upon examination by the u.s. Federal, state, and local taxing authorities. The cbtu is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. Typically, tax years will remain open for three years; however, this may differ depending upon the circumstances of the cbtu.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0MANAGEMENT IS REQUIRED TO EVALUATE TAX POSITIONS TAKEN BY THE CBTU AND TO RECOGNIZE A TAX LIABILITY IF THE CBTU HAS TAKEN AN UNCERTAIN POSITION THAT, MORE LIKELY THAN NOT, WOULD NOT BE SUSTAINED UPON EXAMINATION BY THE U.S.
