ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt0Please accept this letter as a formal request to abate any late filing penalties assessed for the enclosed 2024 Form 990-EZ for East Gate IV Home Association Inc. EIN 52-1047838 I are submitting this return immediately upon discovering it was past due, and request penalty relief based on reasonable cause. Background and Cause for Delay East Gate IV Home Association Inc. is a 501(c) organization entirely managed by a volunteer board of homeowners. In 2024 I took over the role of Treasurer for the HOA. During this transition, the was miscommunication between the outgoing Treasurer and myself and it was not communicated to me that the 2024 Form 990-EZ had not been filed or extended. Exercise of Ordinary Business Care and Prudence Upon discovering that our 2024 compliance was missing, I acted as quickly and prudently as possible to rectify the situation. I am not a tax professional. I immediately prepared and filed the enclosed Form 990-EZ to bring the association back into full compliance. Steps Taken to Prevent Future Occurrences To ensure this oversight never happens again, the current board has implemented the following permanent procedures: 1. We have established a centralized, digital repository for all HOA tax and financial records to ensure future board transitions are seamless and historical documents are retained. 2. We have created a permanent administrative calendar with strict deadlines for annual federal and state tax filings. We respectfully request that the IRS waive any late filing penalties for the 2024 tax year, recognizing our reliance on a volunteer board, the difficulties of the transition, and our prompt action to self-correct once the error was discovered. Under penalties of perjury, I declare that I have examined this statement, and to the best of my knowledge and belief, it is true, correct, and complete.
