The groups are encouraged to require their board members, at least annually, to complete and sign a conflict of interest statement disclosing all potential conflicts and if in the course of meetings or activities a potential conflict arises, the board member is required to disclose any interest in a transaction or decision where they (including their business or other non-profit affiliations), their family and/or their significant other, employer, or close associates will receive a benefit or gain. The board then decides whether the member with a conflict must recuse themselves from that particular discussion or decision.”
