“The association has four types of members: regular member, who is a person, a firm or a corporation paying dues to the association through a chapter or chapter-in-formation. Member-at-large, who is a person, a firm or a corporation not located within an area serviced by a chapter or chapter-in-formation. A member-at-large applies for membership and pays dues to the national association. Life member, who is an individual retired from an active role in the industry. A life member shall have contributed outstanding service to the association and be recommended by the chapter board of directors if a regular member or by the executive committee if a member-at-large, and be designated a life member by the board. National affiliate member, who is a person, national corporation or firm, industry association, foundation, or any other group or individual who makes an annual contribution as established by the executive committee to further the objectives, purposes and programs of the association. National affiliate members enjoy all membership benefits of the association, except that they may not hold office within the association.”

“Membership from the chapters is based on the national dues paying members. Directors of the board are selected by chapters prior to december 1st each year. A chapter that becomes 60 days delinquent in the submission of its monthly dues statement or has been placed "in trust" shall not be eligible for voting.”

“The association hires a cpa firm to prepare the federal form 990. The executive committee has appointed the compensation committee, consisting of the chair, chair-elect, immediate past chair and treasurer, to be the body to receive the form 990 prior to filing. The form is sent to the executive committee prior to filing.”

“At the beginning of each year, members of the association's executive committee and the executive management team on the association's staff sign a conflict of interest statement in which any deviations from compliance would be noted. If any conflict of interest arose, the member would recuse themselves from voting and/or participating in regards to the issue at hand. The association encourages each of its chapters to adopt their own conflict-of-interest policies, but does not ask all board members, other than the executive committee, to execute them.”

“The compensation committee reviews and determines the salary of the president/ceo. The president/ceo reviews and determines the salary of key employees. Approximately every three years, the association employs a consultant to perform a salary survey of all positions to determine comparable salaries in the washington dc metropolitan area. Bonus /incentive compensation is derived by an evaluation of the compensation committee of performance against the organizations strategic and operational objectives for the year.”

“The association does not make its governing documents and financial statements available to the public. However, the federal form 990 and the conflict of interest policy are available upon request for the same period of disclosure as forth in section 6104(d).”

“The process for overseeing the audit of the financial statements and selection of an independent accountant that audited the financial statements has been consistent with prior years.”
