A detailed review of the form 990 is performed by the executive director and business manager. A copy of the form 990 is provided to each board member for their review prior to its filing.

Board members are required to sign a statement annually that they have read and understand the conflict of interest policy. As part of each board meeting, one of the agenda items is to ask if any board members have a conflict of interest with any of the action items that will be voted on.

The board of directors performs an annual evaluation of performance of the executive director. The salary and adjustments are based upon performance by the executive director. A comparison is performed against other similar positions in similar agencies within the state of iowa by the board. Weight is also given for extra duties, less duties, experience, etc. Conclusions are then documented and placed in the executive director's personnel file. The executive director performs an annual performance evaluation of the business manager. The salary and adjustments for this position are based upon the performance evaluation. A comparison is performed against other similar positions in similar agencies within the state of iowa. Conclusions are then documented and placed in the business manager's personnel file. The board of directors approve all other wages through the budget process.
