SINCE 2009, THREADZ TEEN CLOTHES CLOSETS HAVE SUPPLIED FREE CLOTHING, HYGIENE ITEMS, AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. IN FY 2024-25, THREADZ SERVED 1,217 STUDENTS AND DISTRIBUTED 19,861 ESSENTIAL ITEMS ACROSS ITS THREE BOUTIQUE-STYLE CLOSETS AT TEMPE HIGH, MARCOS DE NIZA, AND MOUNTAIN POINTE.TEEN TRIPLE P (POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM) DELIVERED EVIDENCE-BASED WORKSHOPS TO HELP PARENTS RAISE CONFIDENT, HEALTHY TEENS, PREVENT BEHAVIORAL ISSUES, AND STRENGTHEN FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS.

IN FY 2024-2025, 62 VOLUNTEERSCONTRIBUTED OVER 1,300 HOURS TO THIS PROCESS, WHICH INCLUDES REVIEWING APPLICATIONS,INTERVIEWING AGENCIES AND CONDUCTING SITE VISITS. TCC ALSO HOSTS COMMUNITY OFPRACTICE SESSIONS, UNITING STAKEHOLDERS TO ADDRESS TRENDS, SHARE INFORMATION, ANDIMPROVE SERVICES. FREE SPECIALIZED TRAININGS, SUCH AS TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE, AREPROVIDED TO LOCAL SERVICE PROVIDERS. ADDITIONALLY, TCCS PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND PLANNING ACTIVITIES UTILIZE DATA FROM ITS TRIENNIAL COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND OTHER DEMOGRAPHIC RESOURCES TO INFORM PROGRAM PLANNING, POLICY DEVELOPMENT, AND IDENTIFICATION OF UNMET HUMAN SERVICE NEEDS IN TEMPE. A COMPREHENSIVE CITYWIDE HUMAN SERVICES ASSESSMENT WAS COMPLETED IN 202425, AND ITS FINDINGS WILL GUIDE FUTURE PLANNING EFFORTS AND ENSURE THAT STRATEGIES AND INVESTMENTS ARE TARGETED, DATA-DRIVEN, AND RESPONSIVE TO CURRENT COMMUNITY NEEDS.TEMPE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (TCF) ESTABLISHED AN ENDOWMENT FUND WITH THE ARIZONACOMMUNITY FOUNDATION SEVERAL YEARS AGO TO BUILD A LASTING SOURCE OF FUNDING FORADDRESSING HUMAN SERVICE NEEDS IN TEMPE. EACH YEAR, A PORTION OF THE FUNDS GROWTHIS DISTRIBUTED TO LOCAL AGENCIES BASED ON THE PRIORITIES IDENTIFIED BY THE TCC BOARD OF DIRECTORS. PAST GRANTS HAVE SUPPORTED EMERGENCY RENT AND MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE, START-UP PROJECT FUNDING, LEGAL SERVICES FOR LOW-INCOME RESIDENTS, COVID-19 CRISIS RELIEF, MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, AGING SUPPORT, FINANCIAL INSTABILITY, DISABILITY RESOURCES AND HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION. THE TCF ENDOWMENT SERVES AS A PERPETUAL SOURCE OF FUNDING COMPLEMENTED BY THE COLLABORATIVE FUND, WHICH ALLOWS DONORS TO MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT CAN BE UTILIZED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR IMMEDIATE NEEDS. ALL DISTRIBUTION OF THESE FUNDS FOLLOW A GRANT PROCESS APPROVED BY THE TCC BOARD OF DIRECTORS, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE TCF ADVISORY COMMITTEE. THE PROGRAM ALSO PROMOTES FINANCIAL WELLNESS, ECONOMICJUSTICE, AND WEALTH-BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH PUBLIC AWARENESS AND OUTREACH. INFY 2024-2025, 38 IRS-CERTIFIED VOLUNTEER TAX PREPARERS CONTRIBUTED OVER 1,450 HOURSTO COMPLETE 872 TAX RETURNS FOR QUALIFIED TAXPAYERS, INCLUDING SENIORS, INDIVIDUALSWITH DISABILITIES, AND ASSISTED HUNDREDS OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WITH THEIR RETURNS. THESE EFFORTS SECURED NEARLY $1 MILLION IN REFUNDS, ENHANCED BY QUALIFIED TAX CREDITS, DIRECTLY BENEFITING THOSE IN NEED. NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED AS AN IRS SUPER SITE, THIS TCC PROGRAM ALSO OFFERS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE INFORMATION AND PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REFERRALS.TOGETHER TEMPE IS A COLLABORATIVE GIVING PROGRAM WITH THE CITY OF TEMPE THAT COLLECTS DONATIONS THROUGH THE CITY UTILITY BILLING SYSTEM AND INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO SUPPORT ESSENTIAL HUMAN SERVICES. FUNDS ARE COMBINED AND DISTRIBUTED THROUGH TCCS CITIZEN-LED AGENCY REVIEW PROCESS TO NONPROFITS SERVING INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS, SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, THE WORKING POOR, YOUTH, OLDER ADULTS, INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES, AND PERSONS FACING SUBSTANCE MISUSE.
