We use a mix of tools to support these grassroots organizations, including responsive grantmaking; training, coaching, peer-learning, technical assistance and other capacity building; inside/outside strategies; leading and fueling advocacy campaigns; commissioner training; convening; research and analyses; and access to donors and foundations. Investing in social change is risky because we are tackling society's most intractable problems and we will sometimes fail. But overall the return on investment in community organizing is $90 to $1 so we know it works. With 40 years of experience on the frontlines of social change, we invest in campaigns to win significant victories now and fuel the ecosystem and infrastructure necessary to build long-term movements for social change.”
