Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

The majority of Brentfield PTA members join by purchasing an individual or family membership on the PTA website, www.brentfieldpta.org. An individual may also join the local PTA on the national PTA site, www.joinpta.org.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7A

The Brentfield PTA has documented bylaws which outline policies for electing officers, including officer responsibilities, term of office and the composition of the Executive Board. Officer duties include adopting the Texas PTA Local PTA/PTSA Ethics/Conflict of Interest Policy annually, approving plans of work, conducting routine financial reporting, presenting said reporting and regular association meetings.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7B

All governance decisions are made by the Executive Board.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

It is the responsibility of the outgoing Treasurer to submit a true, correct, and complete Form 990 by the Texas PTA deadline which is normally August 31. The Financial Reconciliation Committee also verifies the Form 990's information and completeness.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

All Board Members officially sign the Ethics/Conflict of Interest Agreement for Local TX PTA or Council PTA Board Members at the first Executive Board Meeting of the school year. A non-signer review of our bank statement occurs monthly, in addition to the monthly submission of financial reports by the Treasurer to the PTA Executive Board and General Membership body. The main officers responsible for enforcing compliance are the Treasurer, President, 1st VP and Assistant Treasurer, with oversight from the Financial Reconciliation Committee. The President appoints the FRC (of no less than 3 members) each April and the audit process is conducted each July and August. The committee is expected to finish their audit by the first day of school and then report their findings at the Executive Board and General Membership PTA meetings.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0The majority of Brentfield PTA members join by purchasing an individual or family membership on the PTA website, www.brentfieldpta.org. An individual may also join the local PTA on the national PTA site, www.joinpta.org.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1The Brentfield PTA has documented bylaws which outline policies for electing officers, including officer responsibilities, term of office and the composition of the Executive Board. Officer duties include adopting the Texas PTA Local PTA/PTSA Ethics/Conflict of Interest Policy annually, approving plans of work, conducting routine financial reporting, presenting said reporting and regular association meetings.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2All governance decisions are made by the Executive Board.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3It is the responsibility of the outgoing Treasurer to submit a true, correct, and complete Form 990 by the Texas PTA deadline which is normally August 31. The Financial Reconciliation Committee also verifies the Form 990's information and completeness.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4All Board Members officially sign the Ethics/Conflict of Interest Agreement for Local TX PTA or Council PTA Board Members at the first Executive Board Meeting of the school year.
