“The association awarded scholarships to 26 current arkansas classroom teachers to assist these individuals in the advancement and continuation of their formal education beyond the entry-level requirements that will then be beneficial to the students in the teachers' classrooms in the state of arkansas. Scholarships are based on need and request in a formal selection process. These award scholarships are in the amount of $2,000 each for total grant amount of $52,000. Scholarship awards and recognition plaques to retiring officers for their volunteer service are made at the annual state convention meeting by the association. To assist the various areas around the state of arkansas in the involvement of retired teachers in activities and meetings, the association provides funds to each of the eight (8) area councils throughout the state. The allocation is provided equally to each of the eight areas without regard to the membership base per area.”
