Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part XII, Line 2C

The organization's process governing oversight of the audit and selection of an independent auditor, managed by the full governing board, has not changed from the prior year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

Board-designated quasi-endowments have been funded by a variety of sources over many years, including funds specifically designated to provide long-term support of the organization's domestic violence program. Other quasi-endowment funds are designated to provide long-term support of the organization's remaining programs, at the discretion of the governing board.

PART X, LINE 2:

Child inc. Is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. However, income from certain activities not directly related to child inc.'s tax-exempt purpose may be subject to taxation as unrelated business income. Generally accepted accounting principles prescribe rules for the recognition, measurement, classification, and disclosure in the financial statements of uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken in child inc.'s tax returns. Management has determined that child inc. Does not have any uncertain tax positions or associated unrecognized benefits that materially impact the financial statements or related disclosures. Since tax matters are subject to some degree of uncertainty, there can be no assurance that child inc.'s tax returns will not be challenged by the taxing authorities and that child inc. Will not be subject to additional tax, penalties and interest as a result of such challenge.

PART XI, LINE 2D - OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:

Direct expenses from special events netted against revenue on form 990 62,918.

PART XII, LINE 2D - OTHER ADJUSTMENTS:

Direct expenses from special events netted against revenue on form 990 62,918.
