Mission

Boilermaker apprenticeship training

The mission of boilermakers national apprenticeship program is to promote efficient and high-quality field construction by training individuals in the boilermaker trade through a combination of classroom instruction, on- the-job training, and self-study. The program aims to produce highly skilled, safe, and responsible workers who uphold the standards of the international brotherhood of boilermakers.

Collectively bargained labor/management multi-year training program designed to prepare individuals for careers in the boilermaker trade through a combination of hands-on experience and formal instruction. The program is a four-year earn while you learn model where apprentices are paid while they train, gaining both income and experience. The program components include 6,000 hours of supervised work experience; 576 hours of formal education including such topics as welding, blueprint reading, rigging, knot tying and hand signals, reeving and equipment use. The learning management system (lms) supplements the classroom and field instruction through remote, self-paced modules. During 2024, there were 2734 workers enrolled in the apprenticeship training program and 302 successfully completed the program.

THE PROGRAM COMPONENTS INCLUDE 6,000 HOURS OF SUPERVISED WORK EXPERIENCE; 576 HOURS OF FORMAL EDUCATION INCLUDING SUCH TOPICS AS WELDING, BLUEPRINT READING, RIGGING, KNOT TYING AND HAND SIGNALS, REEVING AND EQUIPMENT USE. THE LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LMS) SUPPLEMENTS THE CLASSROOM AND FIELD INSTRUCTION THROUGH REMOTE, SELF-PACED MODULES. DURING 2024, THERE WERE 2734 WORKERS ENROLLED IN THE APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM AND 302 SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE PROGRAM.
