Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

Mennonite housing rehabilitation services, inc, kansas affordable housing corporation and the hud projects are exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, except on net income derived from unrelated business activities. Therefore, no provision is made for income taxes. In addition, the organization qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under section 170(b) (1)(a) and has been classified as an organization other than a private foundation under section 509(a)(2). All other entities are organized as pass-through entities and as such, no provision for income taxes has been made. The mennonite housing rehabilitation services, inc and kansas affordable housing corporation federal return of organization exempt from income tax (form 990) for 2015, 2014, and 2013 are subject to examination by the irs, generally for three years after they were filed. The organization has adopted the standards requiring disclosure of uncertain tax positions under the asc topic "income taxes". There has not been any interest or penalties recognized in the consolidated statement of activities or in the consolidated statement of financial position related to uncertain tax positions. In addition, no tax positions exist for which it is reasonably possibly that the total amounts of unrecognized tax benefits will significantly increase or decrease within the next 12 months.
