| The theme of the 70th annual Kansas Public Health Association Fall Conference was "Integrating Systems for Health: A Shared Vision." The conference was held in September, with approximately 200 members and non-members with an interest in public health in attendance. Twenty-eight breakout sessions were offered over the 2 day conference, with continuing education available for various health professions. KPHA hosted the MINK Regional Meeting here at KUMC. MINK is the four state region of public health associations (Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska). We organized and hosted the regional two-day meeting with attendees from all four states at KUMC. There were about 50 attendees at the meeting, including representatives from local and state health departments, universities, the American Public Health Association executive board, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Dr. Robert Moser, Secretary, Kansas Department of Health and Environment was also in attendance. KPHA completed a breastfeeding grant funded by the United Methodist Health Ministries. The purpose of the grant was to increase breastfeeding initiation and/or duration rates in Kansas communities. KPHA awarded funds to local health departments that were interested in developing programs in their communities. KPHA provided technical assistance, grant monitoring, and networking opportunities to those communities that received a monetary award. KPHA has a signed MOA with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment regarding the collaboration and planning of the Annual Governor's Public Health Conference to be held each spring. The KPHA president is a member of the conference planning committee and gives the opening address. KPHA serves as the fiscal agent for the conference funds. | $0 | $53,803 |

The conference was held in September, with approximately 200 members and non-members with an interest in public health in attendance. Twenty-eight breakout sessions were offered over the 2 day conference, with continuing education available for various health professions. KPHA hosted the MINK Regional Meeting here at KUMC. MINK is the four state region of public health associations (Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska). We organized and hosted the regional two-day meeting with attendees from all four states at KUMC. There were about 50 attendees at the meeting, including representatives from local and state health departments, universities, the American Public Health Association executive board, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Dr. Robert Moser, Secretary, Kansas Department of Health and Environment was also in attendance. KPHA completed a breastfeeding grant funded by the United Methodist Health Ministries. The purpose of the grant was to increase breastfeeding initiation and/or duration rates in Kansas communities. KPHA awarded funds to local health departments that were interested in developing programs in their communities. KPHA provided technical assistance, grant monitoring, and networking opportunities to those communities that received a monetary award. KPHA has a signed MOA with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment regarding the collaboration and planning of the Annual Governor's Public Health Conference to be held each spring. The KPHA president is a member of the conference planning committee and gives the opening address. KPHA serves as the fiscal agent for the conference funds. |
