White Rock Hills Recreation CENTER Phase II is in Year 2 of the Project Development Timeline: Outcomes include working with Dallas Park/Recreation to review RFQ/RFPs to select a design/construction firm for the CENTER; conducting a community-wide survey; meeting with potential program partners; communicating Community Input Meeting #1; reporting on progress. CENTER will serve more than 70,000 residents living in 4 zip codes. CENTER is on target to open in 2029. Crime Prevention/Public Safety: A Safety Summit was held this year with 100+ attendees. FRI launched a public safety awareness campaign training residents on how to effectively report crime. This campaign has reached more than 22,000 residents. FRI continued monitoring/managing (2) Crime Task Forces, bringing together more than 50 residents and City Departments to work together to solve crime issues in their community. Missing Middle Housing: FRI worked with (4) developers to successfully encourage (3) of them to build single family townhome developments. The other development will be affordable senior tax credit housing. More than 500 families will be served by safe, decent, sanitary housing. Far East Dallas Public Improvement District (FEDPID): In May 2025, FRI received official approval from the Dallas City Council to create a PID within (2) geographic areas of Far East Dallas. The PID will serve 235 businesses with additional police patrolling, business promotion, beautification, and capital improvements. Residents will be the residual beneficiaries of the PID and will positively impact more than a (17) neighborhood associations, 7 schools, 10 faith communities, and 8 nonprofit organizations. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance/Financial Literacy: In 2025 our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) prepared 325 tax returns, giving taxpayers $388,256 in refunds, saving them $61,750 in tax return preparation fees, giving them 81 hours of Financial Education and clicking 645 volunteer hours valued at $21,601$0$0
