Profile

The mission of the cole preston foundation is to feed humanity through sustainable organic gardening. Our projects focus on creating community gardens with local participation, and distributing the produce to those in need. Our goal is not only to donate healthy food, but also to teach sustainable gardening skills which can, and do, make an ongoing difference in peoples lives. We are proud to partner with the palm beach county food bank to help meet the basic needs of children and families in our community. The palm beach county food bank is a driving force behind our local hunger relief system, supporting more than 140 partner agencies with food, programs, and services. The food they distribute reaches nearly 100,000 hungry residents. The cole preston foundation contributes to the palm beach county food banks food recovery & distribution program, making regular deliveries of fresh produce, including a variety of greens, tomatoes, peppers, okra, carrots, cabbage, eggplant, beets, radishes, onions, papayas and herbs. Up to 50% of the food distributed by the palm beach county food bank is received from the local agricultural community.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

The homeless coalition of palm beach county has been the voice of the homeless in our community for more than 30 years, advocating for their rights and a place they can call home. The cole preston foundation works in partnership with the homeless coalition and their breaking bread, breaking barriers program. This program serves meals to the 70 homeless men and women at the senator philip d. Lewis center, where they also receive shelter, job training and placement services, and permanent housing placement. The cole preston foundation makes regular deliveries of nutritious, organic produce including a variety of greens, tomatoes, peppers, okra, carrots, cabbage, eggplant, beets, radishes, onions, papayas, and herbs, assuring that nutrient-rich foods are part of the residents daily diet. We also provide plants for the lewis center vegetable garden. These donations help to educate the residents in the art of sustainable gardening. The skills they learn empower the hungry to obtain a regular supply of healthy food, at very little cost.
