“The polka dot mama melanoma foundation provided education and promoted early detection and prevention of melanoma and skin cancer through the use of social media, their website, and community events. The foundation's awareness efforts led to reports of early diagnosis of skin cancer and melanoma, increased awareness and change in behaviors. During 2019, the foundation funded melanoma research, screened over 1400 patients for skin cancer and identifying skin cancer in 15% of the screened population. The foundation also launched a mobile skin-screening bus (polkadotmama.org/shadeshuttle) they offered free skin cancer screenings in rural locations. They also educated over 300,000 people online and in person about melanoma and skin cancer.”
