“The organization ensures transparency by providing the Form 990 and accompanying financial information to all board members for thorough review and approval prior to submission. This practice promotes accountability and allows board members to actively participate in the organizations financial oversight responsibilities. It also demonstrates the organizations commitment to governance best practices and regulatory compliance. Additionally a board meeting is held and financial reports supporting the tax return are provided to each director. Detail donor and expense reports are provided. Grants and projects are discussed to inform Directors of the accomplishments for the year.”

“OGTF has a written conflict of interest policy as well as Bylaws that address this issue. Board Members are asked about conflicts prior to all meetings and make an annual written affirmation that they had no conflicts in the prior year that were not disclosed. Directors are also asked if there are any questions for potential conflicts of interest. OGTF monitors all business activity for strict compliance of policies and procedures as well as best business practice.”

This money was recorded as other revenue because it is the mission of OGTF to restore wetlands for this Sanctuary and to build an education center at the Sanctuary to teach about wetlands and the environment.”

The City Council District 4 made a $5,000 appropriation to the Friends of Trees and the City Council District 2 Resolution 25-882 made a $5,000 appropriation to the Fallen Soldiers Memorial. The City Council appropriations were recorded under the project fundraiser names Friends of Trees and Fallen Soldiers Memorial to specifically track all donations for those projects and to enable routine reporting to Jerry Berg and the Tree Commission who are assisting with oversight of these projects. Both Friends of Trees and Fallen Soldiers Memorial projects aim to increase the Citys tree canopy and public awareness of the importance of trees to our environment.”
