“The executive director of corporate services for st joseph's indian school (donna dean) reviewed the compensation for the executive director of native hope. Dean used an analytical compensation program from pay scale and also looked at comparable positions within st joseph's indian school to make a recommendation. A collaboration between the native hope board of directors and dean determined the compensation. The analysis to determine the compensation was made in 2018. The same process was used for other native hope employees. Pay scale ranges and comparable positions within st joseph's indian school.”
“The organization's governing documents are made available to the public upon request”
“Ambassadors: native hope ambassadors told the "untold story of native america" in several settings, empowered youth via workshops, and participated in numerous community events. Ambassadors not only traveled to these events within the state of south dakota but also travelled around the country. Our presence at community events on and off the reservation remains a key to the success of building credibility within indian country and the ambassadors focus on "being there" for those in need. Presentations to various schools has been steadily increasing as well. Ambassadorship is a 24/7 job for our employees as many look to our staff for mentorship, so this work is a cornerstone to providing impact. Leader's society: native hope ambassadors/staff members serve to mentor young men and women via this program. Primarily, youth leaders participate in assist in the hosting events: frank waln concert for the crow creek and lower brule sioux tribe reservations, dreamstarter reading events with kindergarteners and their parents, creating dream catchers at a community event, facilitating a three-on-three basketball tourney, attending the drum down sundown at the superbowl to provide cultural entertainment, and more. The goal is for these young leaders to obtain the skills they need to become effective leaders within their own communities. Production team: the native hope media production team provides native hope with the ability to tell stories of hope to empower native voices and promote healing. The team itself consists of native filmmakers, editors, and directors who use their talents to create video and photography for native hope fellows, ambassadors, affiliates and other entities. They seek to facilitate native stories and the stories of organizations helping native americans in order to ensure these voices are heard. Our team is primarily native american and represents several tribes. Another goal for a production team is for its members to continue to improve at their crafts and to teach others filmmaking skills. Affiliates: the native hope affiliates program consists of the formulation of partnerships with likeminded organizations that are working throughout indian country. Through collaboration with these organizations, native hope seeks to expand its ability to aid others through offering time, talent or treasure. This year we have offered film services, instruction for filming and editing, assistance with events, awareness against sex trafficking, housing for artists, transportation costs, educational presentations, and funding for meth house remediation. The forming of coalitions offers more strength to causes/movements, as together we are able to create impact on a larger scale. Fellows: each year, native hope supports five fellows who are working on positive initiatives within their communities/tribes with up to $5,000. The fellows work with native hope via social media and speaking engagements to create awareness about native hope and their programs as well. Fellows represent the hope for a brighter future for native people through sharing their stories of hope and optimism. The program seeks to honor the good work already being done throughout the country and to highlight the fellows with effective storytelling. Each fellow may also receive travel stipends for events that fall within their scope of expertise.”
“Professional services : program service expenses 312,548. Management and general expenses 294,240. Fundraising expenses 34,780. Total expenses 641,568. Outside services : program service expenses 833. Management and general expenses 0. Fundraising expenses 0. Total expenses 833.”
“The organization has a committee who oversees the audit of their financial statements and selects an independent accountant.”

[UNITED NATIONAL INDIAN TRIBAL YOUTH] CONFERENCE WHERE YOUTH AND THEIR LEADERS MEET ANNUALLY TO DISCUSS VARIOUS ISSUES FACING NATIVE YOUTH INCLUDING CULTURAL PRESERVATION. AMBASSADORS SPOKE AT SCHOOLS AND TO LEADERS OF ORGANIZATIONS ABOUT THE "UNTOLD STORY" OF NATIVE AMERICAN HISTORY AND HOW THIS HAS AFFECTED INDIAN COUNTRY. THEY WORKED TO CREATE AWARENESS AROUND THE IDEA OF HOW HISTORICAL TRAUMA HAS PROMOTED THE LOSS OF CULTURE IN MANY NATIVE PEOPLES. |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc | 0 | NATIVE HOPE WORKED IN MANY CAPACITIES TO CREATE AWARENESS AND AID IN THE PREVENTION OF AT-RISK BEHAVIORS FOR NATIVE YOUTH AND ADULTS. OUR LEADERS' SOCIETY MET SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR TO CREATE A PROGRAM THAT ALLOWED THE MEMBERS-AREA TEENS-TO FEEL SAFE, ACCEPTED AND EMPOWERED. ACTIVITIES RANGED FROM GATHERING AS A THINK-TANK TO BOWLING; THESE ACTIVITIES WERE OFTEN PLANNED IN ORDER TO OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE FOR THE AT-RISK TEENS. IN ADDITION TO THE LEADERS' SOCIETY, NATIVE HOPE MEMBERS RENOVATED A ROOM FOR THE PATHFINDER CENTER, A SAFE HAVEN FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING VICTIMS. THEY ALSO TOOK TO THE STREETS OF STURGIS, SD, DURING THE STURGIS MOTORCYCLE RALLY TO SPREAD AWARENESS ABOUT THE TRAFFICKING OF NATIVE AMERICAN WOMEN AND CHILDREN. NATIVE HOPE AMBASSADORS ALSO SPOKE FOR VARIOUS AUDIENCES, BOTH LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY, ON THE AT-RISK ISSUES THAT FACE NATIVE AMERICANS TODAY WITH THE GOAL OF SHOWING THE POSSIBILITIES OF CREATING A REAL MOVEMENT TOWARD CHANGING THE DIALOGUE. AUDIENCES INCLUDED ROTARY CLUBS, KIWANIS GROUPS, CHURCH GROUPS, SCHOOLS, PEO ORGANIZATION, AND MORE. THEY ALSO ATTENDED SEVERAL HEALTH FAIRS, PREVENTION WORKSHOPS, AND WALKS/RUNS IN THIS EFFORT.AMBASSADORS: NATIVE HOPE AMBASSADORS TOLD THE "UNTOLD STORY OF NATIVE AMERICA" IN SEVERAL SETTINGS, EMPOWERED YOUTH VIA WORKSHOPS, AND PARTICIPATED IN NUMEROUS COMMUNITY EVENTS.
