IRS990/Desc0Violence Against Women Alianza Nacional de Campesinas, received funding for various Violence Against Women related projects. One of our projects based in California focused on ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and how it related to violence and toxic stress in adulthood with Futures Without Violence and Lideres Campesinas as they work with health clinics (who serve farmworker communities). Alianza implemented its Esperanza United project that provided empowerment-based capacity-building training and support to farmworker women in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and Marion County, Oregon, to prevent and address workplace sexual harassment and assault. The program provided education on identifying sexual harassment and assault, understanding its long-term impact, knowing ones rights, and accessing local health and social service resources, including those related to COVID-19. The project achieved its goals through three key objectives: 1. Training and Outreach: Trained project staff and farmworker women to strengthen outreach and increase awareness of sexual harassment, assault, and available community resources. 2. Leadership Development: Established a cadre of Campesinas Solidarias (Peer Campesina Advocates) through a culturally specific, gender-based violence train-the-trainer model to provide peer support, referrals, and accompaniment for victims/survivors. 3. Service Enhancement: Improved response capacity among local partnersvictim service providers, health and social service agencies, and law enforcementby promoting equitable trauma-informed, and culturally responsive service delivery. Alianza also collaborated with Campesinos Sin Fronteras (CSF) under the OVW-Sexual Assault Services (SAS) grant in Yuma, Arizona, and Imperial County, California, to expand culturally specific services addressing workplace sexual harassment and assault. This three-year initiative focuses on: 1. Providing trauma-informed, linguistically responsive outreach and referrals; 2. Delivering direct intervention and assistance to sexual assault victims and their families; and 3. Strengthening community-based, culturally specific services through training and technical assistance. Alianza and Lderes Campesinas provided trauma-informed sexual harassment and assault training to CSF staff, while Ancestral Liberation Firm (ALF) conducted LGBTQ+ inclusion training addressing implicit and explicit bias. CSF now provides direct services such as victim accompaniment through legal and medical processes, crisis intervention, assistance with VAWA visa applications, and financial support for victims and their families.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Farm Labor Stabilization & Protection (FLSP) USDA made a grant funding opportunity for agricultural employers via the Farm Labor Stabilization and Protection (FLSP) pilot program to improve working conditions. The purpose of the FLSP program is to improve food and agricultural supply chain resiliency by addressing challenges agricultural employers face with labor shortages and instability. The FLSP Program seeks to advance the following Administration priorities: Drive U.S. economic recovery and safeguard domestic food supply by addressing current labor shortages in agriculture; Reduce irregular migration from Northern Central America through the expansion of regular pathways; and Improve working conditions for all farmworkers. FLSP programming requires grant recipients to allow in-person access to all workers, paying all non-supervisory employees including H-2A Temporary, Agricultural Employment of Foreign Workers Program (the H-2A program) time to attend a KYRR session conducted by a USDA cooperator partner at the beginning of workers contracts, on-site, in a conducive environment. KYRR anchors the FLSP goal of improving working conditions on farms by endowing all farmworkers with rights and resources information, including credible connections to community resources (health, safety, faith-based, legal, etc.). KYRR aims to 1) ensure that all workers under the FLSP program fully understand and can advocate for their rights, 2) build a conduit of trusted resources and 3) strengthen trust between worker-serving organizations and employers, thus supporting the long-term resiliency of US farm labor. Alianza and its project partners will conduct on-the-ground KYRR trainings at the site(s) of each grant recipient, facilitate the KYRR curriculum development process, KYRR scheduling, data reporting, working collaboratively with USDA throughout the process, and other partners or federal agencies, as necessary. USDA anticipates that at least 400 KYRR sessions will need to be conducted as part of FLSP, supporting more than 20,000 workers.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Farm and Food Worker Relief The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm and Food Worker Relief (FFWR) Grant Program awarded approximately $670 million to fourteen nonprofit organizations and one Tribal entity to issue one-time $600 relief payments to eligible farm and food workers. The program was funded through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 funds. The purpose of this program was to defray worker expenses incurred preparing for, preventing exposure to, and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible workers received a one-time $600 payment if they were hired for and worked in an eligible front-line job in the U.S. during the public health emergency, which officially started on January 20, 2020, and ended on May 11, 2023. Alianza Nacional de Campesinas was honored to receive a $48.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the Farm and Food Workers Relief Grant Program (FFWR). The award allowed Alianza in partnership with four of its member organizations - Campesinos Sin Fronteras, Lideres Campesinas, Rural Coalition and the Workers Center of Central New York - and a close ally, the Migrant Clinicians Network, to provide relief funds to more than 64,000 farm and meatpacking workers who incurred pandemic-related health and safety costs. Alianza and its partners coordinated a workforce of more than 100 community health workers in 14 states and 30 municipalities in Puerto Rico so that eligible workers may apply for the one-time relief payment of $600.
