Panel discussions were supplemented by eight feature-length stories published in the online magazine, Model D. The stories provided additional perpective and profiled community leaders on the front lines of ensuring that Detroit is developed in a way that is welcoming and allows a place for all to participate in its growth.

The State Fairgrounds Development Coalition and the West Grand Boulevard Collaborative(WGBC). D4 received additional funding for a study on how to get more residents in the West End Detroit neighborhood employed and trained in the healthcare field. The study was conducted in conjunction with WGBC and Henry Ford Health Systems.

The purpose of the dialogues is to build relationships and mutual understanding between two constituencies that are vital to furthering social and economic equity in Detroit. Various labor and community groups agreed to collaborate on a number of projects, perhaps the biggest of which is the creation of an equitable development agenda.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0Community Outreach - D4 engaged more than 600 residents around the historic State Fairgrounds, documenting community needs and preferences for the largest assembled piece of land in Detroit. To assist the effort, D4 formed the Civic Leadership Engagement Action Network (CLEAN), a corps of local residents who went door-to-door to survey neighbors and get community feedback.

The first was D4s Jobs in the Districts Report, which outlined where jobs exist in Detroit and the region. Importantly, the report also examined jobs within each Council District, which previouly had not been done. The second report was its Pushing Community Benefits Upstream Report, which describes new ways Detroit can amend its planning and development processes to encourage social and economic equity. By inserting community benefit provisions throughout the development process, especially as early as possible, we can make community benefits more plentiful and effective.
