PART III, LINE 4A, PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Healthcare: Address the mental health crisis, particularly for BIPOC youth, and safeguard reproductive justice/gender-affirming healthcare using a girl-centered racial equity lens. As session approached in January 2024, GAIN members learned more about the legislative process and put their skillsets to use. They eagerly engaged in legislative advocacy by signing in PRO/CON/OTHER on bills, submitting bill comments, signing onto our budget proviso sign on letter, and even prepping and delivering virtual testimonies for two bills during session. This hard work and dedication from all of our community members gave JFG the platform to track a plethora of bills throughout the session. HB 1958 concerning non consensual removal of or tampering with a sexually protective device passed this session. While many of our other priority and support bills did not pass, they made significant headway and will resume the process again next year. PART III, LINE 4C, PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Continued to grow our JFG membership program for members of the community seeking to learn more about girls who are marginalized by discrimination, poverty, and violence in WA. As part of the membership, we provide regular communication about the status of girls, newly compiled data, updates on our programs and opportunities for legislative action on our supported bills.

GAIN equipped girls with tools, support and skills they need to effectively influence the policies that directly impact their lives. Facilitated by youth of color, the GAIN program provided advocacy training to 20 members in Pierce, King and Yakima counties. Offered the Skills for Healing, Inclusion, and Nurturing Empowerment for Girls* (SHINE) program. SHINE disrupts the gendered and racialized truancy-related pathways that push girls into court contact by providing girls an opportunity to learn about their identity, values, and self-worth, and to build skills with and from others who look like them and have similar cultural identities. IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0JFGs Training & Assessment Efforts JFG supported DCYFs Juvenile Rehabilitation ongoing efforts to create a safe environment where young women and girls can process their personal traumas while receiving support tailored to their unique needs. To gauge needed enhancement, during the last quarter of 2024, JFG held a series of online and in person meetings with key stakeholders, including residents and staff. Using a gender-responsive race equity standards assessment to center the discussion, JFG examined current training, programs, and services to determine their effectiveness and identify areas for improvement to build essential skills and relationships for successful adulthood.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt7PART III, LINE 4A, PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Healthcare: Address the mental health crisis, particularly for BIPOC youth, and safeguard reproductive justice/gender-affirming healthcare using a girl-centered racial equity lens. As session approached in January 2024, GAIN members learned more about the legislative process and put their skillsets to use. They eagerly engaged in legislative advocacy by signing in PRO/CON/OTHER on bills, submitting bill comments, signing onto our budget proviso sign on letter, and even prepping and delivering virtual testimonies for two bills during session. This hard work and dedication from all of our community members gave JFG the platform to track a plethora of bills throughout the session. HB 1958 concerning non consensual removal of or tampering with a sexually protective device passed this session. While many of our other priority and support bills did not pass, they made significant headway and will resume the process again next year. PART III, LINE 4C, PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Continued to grow our JFG membership program for members of the community seeking to learn more about girls who are marginalized by discrimination, poverty, and violence in WA. As part of the membership, we provide regular communication about the status of girls, newly compiled data, updates on our programs and opportunities for legislative action on our supported bills.
