Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

Impact fairfield county's goal for its membership is to provide members with the opportunity to engage in local philanthropy on a broader and deeper level than they could as individuals. Each member contributes $1,000 and the funds are pooled in order to make large, transformational grant awards of $100,000 to local non-profits each year in may. Members will determine the grant recipients through a vote of the membership after a rigorous grants review process by volunteer committee members. Members can serve as a board member or committee chair, join a grants review committee, attend membership programs or simply vote for a grant finalist at the annual meeting in may. Members can participate as much or as little as they choose, however, despite the level of involvement each member has one vote for the grant finalists. To become a member of impact fairfield county you must be a woman at least 21 years old and reside in fairfield county, ct. A membership contribution of $1,000 is due by december 31st to participate in the grants process for grants distributed the following spring.
