“Mission: more than a game helps to build bridges for youth to belong, believe, and become the leaders they were created to be by partnering with churches and ministries through sports and clubs in strategic ways to reach their community. More than a game has programming in 3 locations: tulsa, ok, forth worth, tx, & houston, tx and is active in serving youth and ministries in many other communities through speaking, training, and partnerships.”
“First accomplishment: building and maintaining hope fields more than a game builds hope fields to give youth a place to play while introducing them to hope. We believe in helping restore a sense of normalcy and familiarity in refugee communities by using soccer as a bridge to build hope in the next generation. Our hope fields are designed to be child-friendly spaces (cfs) that help provide safe places for youth to belong, believe, and become, despite the circumstances they have come from. For many youth that have come from traumatic environments, sports can be a catalyst for healing and hope when paired with a healthy community. We partner with like-minded churches and ministries that have underutilized land in areas where the pay-to-play barrier is a challenge for many refugee and immigrant youth to have accesses to play and belong on an organized team. We have two hope fields completed and a third hope court being built in houston. Second accomplishment: consistent programming for youth through sport we sponsor and help run consistent programming at each of our hope field sites and hope field soccer clubs (3d, big broncos, little broncos, and ochoa) including a summer training academy & leadership development, called 3d academy. During the summer months, we host a soccer training academy that runs from early june until august (known as 3d academy). This academy focuses on development both in soccer skills and spiritual leadership. The academy is run by volunteers and offered to youth between the ages of 10- 18. The primary attendees of this academy are from the zomi burmese community and is free. During the fall and spring months, we host soccer training and leadership development for youth in the 8-18 age range. This training is called "mfc club. We also host football club- and meet on saturday mornings. We have consistent programming every tuesday evening in fort worth for refugee youth in partnership with volunteers from local churches. We also run afterschool programming with a partnership with ochoa elementary in tulsa, ok. Third accomplishment: free outreach tournaments we host large outreaches throughout the year that are free soccer tournaments to reach the community, usually in the spring for easter, late summer for back-to-school, and christmas time. We distribute christmas toys and books of hope and food to all youth involved in our programs and those that attend the outreaches. We serve hundreds of youth and their families through these free outreach tournaments. Fourth accomplishment: free leadership curriculum we offer free leadership and values curriculum, called varsity leadership academy to all of our players and partners. Our leadership volunteers their time to serve this ministry that is in 20 high schools and several sport clubs, including hope field clubs and partner organizations. We also offer a free more than a game outreach tournament manual for volunteers and partner ministries to use to help impact more youth.”
