“We successfully championed all electric resolutions in san diego unified school district and sweetwater union high school district, focusing on addressing indoor air quality. We partnered with civicwell and the san diego foundation to launch a grant matchmaking pilot program to help smaller, under-resourced cities apply for and secure historic climate funding to invest in the health and well-being of our communities. We partnered with communities throughout san diego county to enhance community involvement with the county's regional decarbonization framework and gather input for climate action palns, programs, projects, and policies. The sd green new deal alliance played a vital role in successfully advocating for the expansion of a 2022 pilot program for youth opportunity passes, which grants youth 18 and under free, unlimited access to transit. With this program, the data shows we are seeing increased transit riders, increased access to school, work, and career opportunities, and reduced gas emissions. We launched the first-ever orange county climate action plan (cap) report card, which holds local governments accountable, showcasing significant progress in climate action and offering key recommendations for an equitable and sustainable future. The release of our report card led to action. Six cities have now committed to developing a cap or strengthening their outdated cap in this upcoming year. These cities are developing or strengthening a cap: santa ana, irvine, costa mesa, laguna beach, buena park, and san clemente. The oc climate coalition successfully advocated to pause a dangerous hydrogen gas experiment proposed by socalgas and partners at uci that put health and safety of our uci students and faculty on the line.”
