“Friends of ashby's fort is a private, not for profit 501(c)3 organization funded by admission, donations, and museum store purchases. The friends of ashby's fort exists to support the ashby's fort museum and historical site, to educate the public about the history of pioneers, to honor the struggle of settlers and native americans on the frontier, and to preserve, interpret, and bring to life the cultural heritage of the site as a legacy for future generations.”

“Ashby's fort has served as a community center for the past several years. From the annual fort ashby days (a three-day celebration of the town of fort ashby including a parade, vendors, and food) to several concerts each year, the museum has been a center of historic, art, and cultural events. The museum is also home to ashby's second company of rangers, a french and indian war reenactor group.”

“With the exception of 2020 (due to the pandemic), foaf has hosted archaeological work each summer since 2017. Two of those "digs" were through a 6 week class offered by potomac state college. Approximately 10 students and several volunteers were involved in excavating the northeast bastion of the original stockade and most of the remaining outline of the stockade that is located on foaf property.”
